Response From Lord Wallace Browne
| The response below is in response to an email sent to
Lord Browne by one of our users, in order that he, as a local
representative might represent their views in the consultation.
|
| Thank you for your correspondence regarding the proposed rapid transport
system for Belfast.
To date there has been no decision taken regarding the route of the proposed rapid transport system although it is true that the Comber Greenway is part of the consideration. I am sure you would agree that from an environmental viewpoint we need to encourage people out of their cars. Walking and cycling are healthy and environmental friendly alternatives. However for various reasons these are not always practical and it is therefore essential to have a modern efficient easy accessible transport system. I believe that this can be achieved by providing a rapid transport system with serious consideration being given to protecting as far as possible natural environments. It is my hope that after the completion of the Consultant's report the outcome will satisfy all interested parties. |

Editorial This site does not know whether this is a standard rely sent out from Lord Browne, but having read the original email from our user and that of Lord Browne, it would appear his response does not address the concerns raised. This user apparently wrote on behalf of several constituents to Lord Browne as he is an elected representative. They were therefore seeking him to represent their interest in this matter, in the ongoing public consultations. Lord Browne has not indicated any intentions of doing so, although this site will be using the freedom of information act in due course to see exactly what actions our elected representatives took, in our response to our requests for help in objecting to this matter. |
