| Residents of East Belfast will be aware of
extensive building works on the Old Dundonald Road, as they
witnessed the daily progression of Eastpoint, a purpose built
entertainment village.
The complex boasts an eight screen multiplex, a Burger
King, Wolfes, Gaze, Subway and Blue Chicago Grill, which
except for the Omniplex Cinema which is already open, are all
in the last stages of preparation before opening. In addition
to onsite facilities, Eastpoint is located next to other
popular local amenities such as David Lloyd Leisure, Dundonald
International Ice Bowl, the new Hanwood Business Park, a
caravan park and Tulycarnet library. The there are plans for
even more with permission for a hotel and service station
already granted.
The complex appears to have hit one or two snags along the
way and was original due to open in October of 2008, this was
later amended to November, however in December both Eastpoint
and Hanwood Business Park saw their first residents open their
doors for business. In Eastpoint the first business to open
shop was the Omniplex Cinema and in Hanwood, its first
resident to trade was 'The Sewing Room'.
It won't be long now before the other tenants are open for
business too, and these two centres are bustling, day and
night
